1st NATIONAL SEMINAR on IMPORTANCE OF MEAT PROCESSING & TECHNOLOGIES FOR VALUE ADDITION OF MEAT

The seminar conducted in connection with the commissioning of Value Added Processed Meat Production Facility Plant, Vilakkupara, Yeroor, Kollam Dist.  was inaugurated by Dr.  A kowsigan, Director Animal Husbandry Department, Kerala Around 200 persons representing academicians, students and  entrepreneurs from Kerala, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Karanataka  participated in this seminar which attracted the national attention Dr. J Abraham, Former Director, Meat Technology Unit, Keral Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Delivered keynote adress on the topic Meat and its value addition-  Need of the hour Lead presentations were given by Dr. Vishnuraj MR(Scientist, ICAR-National Research Center on Meat, Hyderabad) on the topic  Meat foods and their value addition - A technoeconomical perspective  and Dr. Vinod VK(Assistant Professor, Dept  of Veterinary Public Health, College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Pookode, Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University ) on  current challenges and perspectives in the management of food borne infectionsIn  the national level competition to identify the outstanding research talent, Dr. Sivaprasad, Emergency Veterinary Surgeon, Kerala Animal Husbandry Department and Dr. Neha Parmar, student, Guru Angadev Veterinary College, Punjab won First prize in the oral and poster presentation respectively While the second position in the oral presentation competition was shared by Dr. Prajwal S  (veterinary surgeon, Veterinary dispensary, Karnataka) and Dr. Naveen Z ( Assistant Professor, Veterinary University, Thirupathy) , Jasna A R ( Assistant Professor, CSI college for advanced studies punnakkad, Pathanamthitta) had won the third prize.In the poster presentation category, Dr. Namratha Valsalan,  Veterinary Surgeon, kakkayangad , kannur) and Dr. Akhila VV ( MVSc. Student, Dept  of LPT, College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Mannuthy, Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences university) had won the second amd third prize respectively .Kollam, District Industries Center general manager shri.Biju Kurian talked  about the various schemes being developed for entrepreneurs in this sector and Smt. Rachel Thomas (Environmental  Engineer, Kerala state Pollution Control Board, Kollam Dist. ) spoken over the matters to be taken care while implementing such projects.
